The Splendid Chaps Christmas Special

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! Yes, it’s our last live (and lively) show, recorded on December 15th back where we started this mad journey, at the Bella Union in Melbourne. It’s also a Christmas party to bid a a fond farewell, and you’re invited – along with guests Thomas Caldwell, Lee Zachariah, Adam Richard, Janet A McLeod, Myke BartlettAlexandra TynanFee Plumley and Dr Djoymi Baker. Plus there’s a Dalek, the magic of theatre, music from the Time Lads, songs sung by the chaps themselves…and perhaps even a Christmas miracle. It’s an emotional time, Christmas, and we’ll miss you all, so let’s go out with a bang!

It’s not quite the end, though…watch out for our last new episode, Splendid Chaps By Request, on December 31, and we also have a couple of extras from November up our sleeve we’ll put out next year. Oh, and we might be working on a little something new…

Just wanted to say how incredibly happy these podcasts have made me, and the Christmas Special was one of the best. Ben, John, Petra: Thank you so, so much for making these so awesome. Thank you, it’s good, keep warm!

Excellent show once again. It carried me through a rough day. I am so pleased that you will producing new material next year.
I, too, am a fan of Alt. 9th Doctor Richard E. Grant and have a life size stand up of him that I won in a BBC website competition. Invariably people say, “Why do you have a creepy Dracula in the corner?”
One question that has been niggling at me. On every podcast there is a man present with a distinctive escalating laugh. I would be able to pick your show out of numerous others by that laugh alone. Is it one of you? Part of your crew? Or a very dedicated fan?
    Regards,
    Henrik
    Ps. Love the T shirt!

      Hi Henrik,

I have been meaning to reply to this for *ages*! The person with the awesome escalating laugh is indeed a fan, and a very dedicated one at that, as she came to nearly every single recording of the Chaps shows last year! We love her laugh so much, we’ve used it in an episode of our upcoming series ‘Night Terrace’, and it is *A*mazing. It’s like a little easter egg for our Splendid fans. Let us know if you spot it! Or, hear it, rather. You know what I mean!

Thanks for another great podcast — a wonderful Christmas present for us Whovians! So entertaining and informative; the Time Lads were awesome and I look forward to seeing Santa Capaldi and your next podcast 😉
    Merry Christmas!

Thanks! For many hours of entertainment, for leading me to Verity podcast and the Big Finish adventures, and for the prize I won in September, quite literally the only good thing to happen to me that month.

Excellent episode. I was on the verge of tears three times (while wandering around doing my Christmas food shopping)! I definitely want to check out the Doctor Who Unbound audios.

Thanks for a great year of shows, lady and gentlemen.

The real question here is can we please have a complete “That’s the Way to the Zoo” – That has to be one of the best songs you’ve covered in Splendid Chaps. Please please please release a single version of the song.

Thanks for such great shows, looking forward to Night Terrace.
